The Las Vegas Gambler VIDEO POKER Video Poker is beyond any doubt one of the most addictive of all games played in any casino. Other than offering strategy, the best advice that we can offer when playing video poker is ALWAYS PLAY MAX COINS The philosophy for always playing max coins is very simple. If you play a high denomination, and only play one coin at a time, if you get a ROYAL FLUSH, assuming you have chosen to play a dollar machine, with one dollar in, a royal flush will pay you $250.00. If in the other hand you chose to play a quarter machine and played the full five coins (only $.25 more than playing the dollar machine with one coin) and received a ROYAL FLUSH, your payout would be $1000.00, instead of the $250.00 that you would have received from the dollar machine. The same holds true in comparing a quarter machine with a nickel machine. The quarter machine with one coin in would pay $62.50 for a Royal. Whereas a nickle machine with the same twenty-five cents (five coins)would pay $200.00 for the same Royal Flush. VIDEO POKER STRATEGY Every video poker player has their own strategy. Whatever system you use, as in other games, BE CONSISTENT. Each machine type requires a slightly different strategy. First, be sure of the type of machine that you are playing. There are many different types of video poker machines. The first type that was developed is now referred to as the "BONUS" or "JACKS or BETTER" machine. These machines are characterized by the fact that they will pay a ratio of 2:1 for two pair. The next most popular machine type is "The DOUBLE BONUS" machine. These are characterized by their payout of four-of-a-kinds. They usually have a schedule that pays a bonus for four ACES, TWOS, THREES, or FOURS with an added bonus if either of these four-of-a-kinds have either an ACE, TWO, THREE or FOUR as a "KICKER"(the fifth card). If you get a high paying four-of-a-kind on this type of machine with a kicker, they pay extra. The next type is the "WILD" machine. They can be either deuces wild, jokers wild or a combination of either or both. These machines have a totally different pay schedule and players who play this type of machine are usually very loyal in their choice of this machine when they play. When playing any machine, be mindful that you are trying to make your playing time as long as possible and your "bottom line goal is to get a ROYAL FLUSH. To that end we offer the following basic strategies. Bonus poker If you get any pair, hold it If you get any Ace, King, Queen, or Jack, hold them all UNLESSthree of them are of the same suite THEN Hold the three to the ROYAL FLUSH If you get any two pair, hold them If you get any three of a kind, hold them If you get three or four to a straight or flush, hold them Remember, the object of video poker is the same as any other game, to win money and stay in the game as long as possible. When choosing either a bonus, double bonus or higher bonus machine, be sure to pick a machine that pays the highest ratio for a full house. If you can find a machine that pays as much as 10 to one, this machine will keep you playing longer than a machine that only has a six or seven to one payout for a full house. - - A 10/1 machine will pay 50 coins for five bet while a 6/1 machine will only pay 30 coins. Just be careful, look the machine over very carefully before you insert your first bill.
